Dollard Hockey Association Single Letters
Oct. 9, 2013
Here’s a summary of where we are and what’s coming up for Single Letter teams.
Last weekend we completed drafting all single letter teams from Atom through Midget. All players should have been contacted by a coach by now.
Start of the Regular Season
All boys single letter teams from Novice through Midget will play in the CHL (Central Hockey League) this year, just as we did last year. They play against teams from Pierrefonds, Ile Bizard, West Island and Lakeshore hockey associations.
Games start Oct. 15 for Peewee, Bantam and Midget and Oct. 25 for Atom. Novice does not start until Nov. 15. The teams will be given their game schedules later this week.
Behind the Scenes
The Convenors are now working on assigning callups to teams and helping create rosters and other paperwork that goes along with putting the teams into the league.
The convenors are available to you if you have questions or concerns. Remember to use these steps when you have something you want to discuss about your child in hockey.
1) Always wait 24 hours after an ‘incident’ before initiating a discussion.
2) Contact the team’s manager and ask to meet with him and/or the coach.
3) If this does not resolve the issue or does not fully answer your questions, contact the convenor
for your child’s team’s level.
4) If the convenor cannot resolve the issue, contact the VP of Single letters. (Dion Shea) 5) If the VP cannot resolve the issue, contact the President of DHA. (Mitch Trapid)
At any time, all parents can get an independent opinion on an issue using DHA’s ombudsman (Alan Knopp). He can tell you if he thinks your issue has validity and can also initiate his own investigation.
Tryouts are over! Teams are practicing and anticipating their first games of the season. But theirs is still lots of work going on behind the scenes to make sure this season runs as smoothly as possible.
