Back to Hockey - Part 4
Written by Alison Harris

We hope this e-mail finds you all and your families safe.

We will now try to fill in the information that you are all waiting for. We will do this in 2 parts. First part will be the COVID rules and protocols and the 2nd will be to explain the return to Hockey.

COVID protocols ( City of Dollard/Dollard Hockey )

As of tomorrow (Sept 2nd) we will have 2 rinks open and parents will be allowed back in The Civic Centre (limited time and access) but not downstairs in the hallways to the dressing rooms.

All players and parents must wear a mask (Properly over mouth and nose) at all times in the Civic Centre. Players can only remove their masks on the bench as activities start.

Players may only enter the building 15 minutes prior to their activity and must leave within 10 minutes after. There is to be absolutely no lingering.

Parents who wish to watch can only enter 5 minutes before activity and must leave immediately after again with no lingering.

All players (except Goalies) must come dressed with the exception of skates.

Goalies may enter 30 minutes prior to activity.

The players must pass through members of our Covid committee (located at the top of the stairs to the arenas) before being directed to their bench or changing room.

At check in they may have their temperature taken (no contact) and/or asked questions.

Each team will have a COVID manager who will have trace sheets for each hour of activities. These sheets will have the time, date, players names with check boxes for attendance, as well as boxes to tick of negative responses to the COVID questions. These sheets will be verified by the COVID Committee member present.

Coaches will be responsible for making sure their players are respecting all protocols I.e. players must remain on the assigned X on the bench to put on their skates or on the players bench.

During the practice no coach can get closer than 2 meters to a player. On the bench coaches must wear a mask.

The back door (heading into the back of rink 2) will be open as well as the doors on de Salaberry, City Hall door and Library door. Everyone must sanitize their hands entering the building.

In the stands there will be seats marked with a green X.  You must respect the seating unless you are from the same household (like husband and wife)

Anyone with cold or flu symptoms is asked to not enter the building or participate with a team until they are symptom free or have a negative test.

We ask that you do not argue or try to circumvent the protocols and rules as we have limited volunteers and need them all. These rules are not suggestions but what we need to do in order to be able to run the association this year in accordance with the health minister, the City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Hockey Quebec so let’s work together to make it work for the kids.

Right now only the SIL teams (AAA peewee, Bantam and Espoire) are trying out and allowed in the building.

We will be starting an adjuster version of tryouts starting September 12th. Schedules will come out next week.

We are still in phase 5 which will allow for 10 skaters + 1 goalie  x 2 squads per ice Bantam (U 15) and below and 8 + 1 x 2 squads Midget (U 18) and older.

Hockey Quebec is expecting to move to phase 6 by October 15th as long as all is approved by the minister and the city.

Our AA teams will be formed as follows 2 teams of 8 + 1 ( I.e. squad A and B ) 2 coaches for each team. If and when we move to phase 6 those teams will be consolidated to make 1 team. Until October 15th we will be playing 2 lines of 4 on 4 Hockey in exhibition games. If all goes well the regular season will start October 31st

Single Letters U 15, U 13 and U11 will be making Teams of 10 + 1 and will play 5 on 5 Hockey in exhibition games until a start of the regular season if all goes as expected for December first.

Based on the number of players per team ex games etc players in SL should actually have more ice time.

Girls Hockey will be most of the same information with a a few differences.

U 9 (Novice) and MAHG will have development sessions before games or tryouts.

Please keep in mind everything can change on a moments notice and we will be doing our best to keep you well informed.

I would expect a ton of questions about tryouts (this years version) but if you can hold off it would be appreciated as our priority in the next week is COVID Committee, naming coaches, scheduling ice etc.

We will be sending out an e-mail next week about all tryouts which will include AA and how to get invited, single letters, Novice and MAHG sessions as well as a separate e-mail for girls hockey.

Sorry if we are missing anything, if we are we will fill in the missing information.

This will be a season of cooperation, organization and hopefully filled with happy players.

Very important if you haven’t registered yet please do so on www.dollardhockey.com as we may need to limit players.

Thank you

Welcome back to Hockey.
